Silobration 2019
One of the quickest trips I’ve ever taken, but one of the most memorable.
Earlier this Fall my mom, whom I think may be one of the luckiest people in the world, won tickets through Chip’s twitter contest! This meant, we were able to attend the 5th annual Silobration as VIP!
Fast forward to the weekend of our trip and we were ready to experience Magnolia in the best way possible!
The first thing on our list was to have brunch at Magnolia Table. As we entered the restaurant you could feel Joanna Gaines’ style in every inch of the place. During our visit each and every employee was inviting and SO kind to us! We were also lucky enough to meet Jo’s mom, who was equally as kind as the rest! Also did I mention the food…. INCREDIBLE!
Throughout the day we shopped the many talented vendors from clothing, candles, and beautiful home decor! October in Texas feels like July in Iowa, HOT! To cool off, we shopped the Magnolia Market where Joanna leaves you feeling inspired to decorate your entire home in Magnolia!
The night time events started and the night could not have been more perfect! Have you ever experienced a moment in time so perfect you want to relive it over and over again, well this was one of those moments. As a VIP guest, we received tags and met at the front lawn at the Silos. Around 30 other guests were waiting just like us. My first incredible "“in awe” moment was during this waiting period. As we were waiting, a woman came up to me and said “I just have to say you are so beautiful, you have a spirit that glows and I just had to come up to tell you!” I had never been taken back by a stranger’s comments, but I will remember hers for a lifetime. A life lesson I will forever hold onto: Even though you are surrounded by so many strangers in your every day life, you never know what a stranger will notice about you. A simple smile or hello can go a long way. |
After we left the front lawn, we were guided to the roof of Magnolia Market. The rooftop provided an array of yummy appetizers, mocktails, and even a goody bag with a silobration cup, t-shirt, and Chip’s book! As we were in line to get a plate of appetizer’s, my mom and I began chatting with another mom and daughter from Alabama. We ended up talking with them the entire night! The two ladies had an energy and kindness that were just infectious!
The sun was perfectly setting as we went downstairs to start the concert. The front part of the stage was blocked off for the VIP guests, which was so exciting! After the amazing opening act from Josh Garrels, Chip & Joanna gave a witty, yet heart-warming speech. Chip was as funny in person as he is on television, Joanna discussed their new television network, and then they shared their new campaign “Make Kindness Loud”. As the audience silenced, we listened to strangers stories on how kindness impacted their everyday lives. In that moment my heart was completely full and tears filled my eyes. If you want to read more about human kindness visit here!
Chip and Joanna returned to their seats (the staircase on the side of Magnolia Market), then JohnnySwim came out and the crowd was ecstatic! Although my mom and I had never heard of JohnnySwim, we soon became huge fans! During the middle of the concert I had another “in awe” moment. As they were singing their song “Live While We’re Young” I remember feeling completely still. As I gazed around I noticed how the Texas heat was gone and everything was perfectly still. The Silos and trees were perfectly lit, JohnnySwim sang the most touching lyrics, and I felt so light and HAPPY! It was one of those feelings that is just hard to put a pin on, but every human experiences. Sorry for the babbling of my trip, but i had one of the best times I have ever had…and so glad I was able to experience it with my favorite travel partner, my mom! Enjoy every moment in life: compliment a stranger, find happiness in the smallest moments, and make kindness loud. |
